To become a dentist, the aspiring dentist must first earn their undergraduate degree and apply to one of 67 accredited dental schools in the U.S. Once accepted, they undergo three years of rigorous in-classroom and hands-on training to earn their Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or a Doctor of Dental Sciences (DDS) degree. At this point, they’ve completed roughly seven years of schooling, but their studies are far from over. In order to maintain their license, they must complete continuing education hours each year.
Many patients are unsure if they should call their dentist or go to the ER if they’ve knocked out a tooth, damaged a restoration, or are struggling with persistent tooth pain. The answer depends largely on one thing: are you experiencing any potentially life-threatening symptoms (i.e., trouble breathing, severe bleeding, extreme swelling)? If so, you should head to the ER or call 911 right away. If not, then it’s best to call your emergency dentist ASAP to get the necessary care.

Since we offer convenient hours, including evenings and Saturdays, there’s a very good chance we’ll be able to see you the very same day you call for an emergency exam.
